Suffolk County Youth Runaway Shelter

SHELTER HOTLINE: (631) 782-6596

To reach the shelter after 5PM or on weekends: (516) 659-0923 (You can text this number!)

The HFY Shelter provides a safe, supportive and secure environment for all Suffolk County youth between the ages of 12 and 20 who find themselves in crisis and need a haven. The program provides support services to all residents 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year for up to 30 days.  While youth are with us they will be provided with safe shelter, case management services, individual and family counseling, transportation, food, clothing, educational assistance and advocacy, medical care coordination and referrals, living skills development and other essential services. Hope For Youth can and will meet all the basic needs of this population while providing each youth with the support they need to reach their goals.

Within the program, staff help teach cleaning and cooking skills, offer workshops and tutoring, as well as needed clothing and personal items to help the youth feel safe and able to focus on future steps to remain safe. Our goal is to ensure every youth in Suffolk County has a warm bed, comfortable space to wake up and people who care to get them out the door to school while a long-term plan is developed.  These children would otherwise be “couch-surfing” and falling victims to the streets without guidance and security.
