Hope For Youth

Alice in Wonderland

Thanks to a generous donor the children at HFY got to see Alice in Wonderland at The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts!

Ms. April  Lowry, SRC accompanied the girls Jerenne and Metaia to the show. According to Ms. Lowry, Metaia and Jerenne’s favorite character was Alice. They laughed when the Mad Hatter told Alice she had bad manners. The staff and children had a great time! Another favorite part was after the play they had a chance to walk with Alice and talk with her. They seemed happy and excited that they were able to attend the event.

According to PBS.org, “learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics may be more important than ever to the development of the next generation of children as they grow up.” Theater can expose children to tales of other cultures, historical events and traditions. It can help children to appreciate and respect another’s personality, experiences and talents, and create spaces for community dialogue to introduce our young citizens to many points of view.

The Center’s mission is to have Patchogue Theatre serve as a cultural center for Long Island. The Center expects to achieve its mission by showcasing a broad spectrum of performing arts for the benefit of a wide-ranging audience.
